Priya Banerjee is an actor, who doesn’t mind going the extra mile. Given her jet setting lifestyle — she shuttles between her home in Canada and Mumbai — Priya is on a path to carve a niche for herself in the Telugu film industry. We caught up with her as she is all set to make her foray into B-town.

**What is keeping you busy these days?**
Promotions of my upcoming film S Dev and shooting for a new NetFlix show. I am also dubbing for my film with T-Series.

**How was it working with cricketer Dwayne Bravo for the item number you did together?**
It was a Tamil film called Ula to be released and Dwayne did a song for us which has been released online. It did well. I am looking forward to the release of the film and it was brilliant working with him. I actually didn’t know he is a famous cricket player since I have never really followed cricket growing up in Canada (laughs), but it was a fun shoot.

**You were born in West Bengal and raised in Canada. What do you miss most about Canada?**
I have been raised in Canada and haven’t lived in India much. What I miss the most is the clean air and the lifestyle. Life is very easy back home.

**Were you always inclined towards acting?**
Not really but yes I definitely enjoyed performing arts while growing up. In a Bengali household, it’s important to know how to sing and dance, so I was trained in both classical dancing and singing since I was a little kid.

**How different is it working in Tollywood and Bollywood. Talk about your struggles.**
I haven’t really struggled much in the last five years of living in India. I have enjoyed every bit of living and working in both the industries. In fact, I started working the moment I landed in India, so life’s been quite busy since then.

**Has your family been supportive of your choices?**
Yes always. I am the only child and usually you would think that the parents to be against leaving everything and moving to an entirely new country where you know no one. But, my parents have always shown immense amount of trust in me and my work and have always been very supportive. Of course they miss me a lot and I make sure whenever I get time off I travel back home.

**What do you prefer: modeling or films?**
Films, always. I absolutely love acting and I could do this for the rest of my life. It’s great to see all the efforts and hard work you put out on screen and people appreciating it.

**Do you plan to act in crossover cinemas given that you are from Canada?**
I am definitely looking into it and would love to do crossover and English films or shows as I can always relate more to their kind of stories and filmmaking. Also, I guess the accent works for me more (laughs).

**What is the biggest turn-off?**
Liars! I dislike people who are dishonest and double-faced.

**Where do you see yourself five years from now?**
I haven’t actually thought of that. I don’t believe in long term planning. I live life by dwelling in the moment but I definitely want to continue doing the work I am doing and also do more.
