They soaked and “submerged” in dance at Terra Mayaa.

The event, Submerge Dance Project, hosted by Electrovibe in association with t2, featured DJ Ankytrixx.

A music project incepted by DJ Nikhil Chinappa, his wife DJ Pearl along with Hermit Sethi, Submerge seeks to promote EDM (electronic dance music) artistes from India across the globe.

The night belonged to Ankytrixx, aka Ankit Kocchar, from Mumbai.

The composer-producer, who had even earned the distinction of being the Best DJ of 2013, belted out a series of his own tracks — deep house and techno music.

“I have played in Guwahati so many times. It is just home to me now. I loved playing here as always,” the DJ said with a grin.

On his association with Submerge, Ankytrixx added, “It is always nice to spread the musical vibes each place that I go to and Submerge is a unique platform that unites us all.”

“Submerge was started 10 years ago. We really got bored of the music scene in India, because back then, club music would just mean Bollywood, and, well songs that you see on Vh1 and MTV. We thought all that was getting a bit dreary and it was then that Submerge came into being,” Karn Rateria from Submerge.

“The project started to push dance music into clubs in India and it gradually spread outside, too. We are trying to promote Indian DJs, who do EDM. We are getting them in gigs here and abroad. But we want to support our local DJs first,” Rateria adds.
