‘UNFOLLOW’ RULES, CREATE YOUR OWN TREND

That’s exactly what the students of JD Institute of Fashion Technology, Guwahati tried to tell the world through a fashion show, Unfollow, at ITA centre at Machkhowa to mark the institute’s 25th anniversary recently.

As they say, “in fashion, one day you are in, the next day you could be out” and it all boils down to how innovative one is when designing an outfit.

Well, the students sure did that, bringing out exclusive garments styled from Fevicol, adding steel to the shirts, and using fish scales to make accessories.

The young designers gave a twist to our very favourite denim by transforming it into ethnic wear.

There were bandhgalas and churidaars made of denim. The humble raincoat was also turned around and made into western wear with a touch of elegance.

A whole array of outlandish designs poured onto the ramp.

Priyanka Dey, Rashmi Mishra and Dibakar Choudhury stood out and were chosen the best designers. The judges comprised R.C. Dalal, the executive director of JD group, Sumita Dey Deka, centre director of JD Institute of Fashion Technology (Guwahati) and another external jury member.
